Hi m.majl,

·Is the drive not detected in Windows Explorer?

I see that there are no drivers available for the drive, there are only firmware upgrades. Also there are no compatibility issues with the device as it is compatible with Windows 7.

Check to see if the following steps help.

Se S084 Driver Windows 10

Step 1: Log on to the Samsung support website and check to see if you have the latest firmware upgrade available for the device.

Step 2: Refer the below mentioned Knowledge Base Article and check if it helps.

Hope this helps!

Good day Syed,

Win 7 device manager finds the drive, however with the following message:

'A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)'

Update driver/software function ends with no result, but the message : 'Windows has determined that driver/software for your device is up to date'.

As I mentioned before, I cannot enable the driver - troubleshoot provides no solution, as neither does enable/disable routine.

I tried to update firmware from Samsung site, however latest version of the firmware is inaccessible (attempt to connect to firmware update link eventually times out without download). Anyways, I believe that the problem is with Win 7 driver or rather one of the updates I collected. DVD driver worked fine for the first month or so.

As per compatibility issues with Win 7, I will have to disagree as long as ACER Aspire laptops are concerned.

OK, I managed to download the firmware update file from Samsung site (after few months of attempting).

However, firmware update does not recognize the drive (message: 'drive cannot be found').

Anyone has idea what to do?

Thanks

Thanks for suggestion, mural.

However, I think that would be an option if I could find out which update killed the driver. Otherwise, I believe I would have to skipp Win 7 updates from today to eternity.

On the other hand, I am not sure if updates are really worth it in the first place...

Hi m.majl,

I suggest trying the device on another computer to see if it is failing.

If that doesn't work you can try performing a clean boot to see if a startup program is causing a conflict:

Uninstall the external drive.....from within the Device Manager.

Leave it still connected, REBOOT your computer.

Let the 'Add New Hardware' program rediscover the external drive....and, reinstall it for you.

An update has probably changed the IRQ setting allotted to it, causing a 'conflict'.

A reinstall this way should fix it, by reallotting a new IRQ.. .for the external drive.

this may be unrelated, but when i tried something similar with my samsung se-s084, i found that the region settings werent set. you go into device management (devmgmt.msc in runbox), find and right-click your device, go to properties, go to the DVD region tab, and change to the coutry in which you live (mine was region 4 for australia)

hope this helps
