Compaq V3700 Sata Driver DownloadIssue:
If customer has installed the Operating System with the SATA emulation set to IDE in the BIOS, and wants to change to the AHCI mode, the proper AHCI driver needs to be installed, without which the unit would produce a Blue Screen.
Solution
The following steps are used for installing AHCI drivers in Windows XP operating system installed using the IDE mode.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon, click Manage, select Device Manager
  2. Click the + symbol beside IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, this would show the devices under this category.
  3. Download the AHCI drivers from HP web site. Softpaq sp42233 for DC7900 (may change in future) and extract it to the default location (C:swsetupsp42233)
  4. You will find the Intel native SATA storage controller driver installed.
  5. Right-click one of the Serial ATA storage controllers listed, and click Update Driver.
  6. In Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard, select No, not this time. Click Next.
  7. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) . Click Next
  8. Select Don't search I will choose the driver to install. Click Next
  9. Click Have Disk
  10. Click Browse
  11. Select location: C:swsetup sp42233Deploymentf6flpy32
  12. Click Open
  13. This will list several SATA AHCI Controllers. From this list, select Intel®) ICH10D/DO SATA AHCI Controller. Click Next.
  14. The Update Driver Warning will be shown. Click Yes
  15. The driver will install, and completing the Hardware update Wizard appears. Click Finish
  16. You can find the updated controller in the device manager.
  17. During restart, press the F10 key and boot to BIOS setup utility. Click System Configuration - Device Configuration - change SATA Device Mode to AHCI .
Now, the SATA driver is successfully installed and the desktop will boot into Windows with SATA Device Mode set to AHCI.
note:
During XP installation if the SATA Emulation is set to AHCI you would have to press F6 to provide AHCI drivers. Which needs Floppy drive installed if the unit does not have a Floppy drive/disk and customer needs to install XP in AHCI mode, he can use these steps as Workaround by installing XP with SATA Emulation set to IDE, update AHCI drivers and then change the SATA Emulation to AHCI.
